Learning Support Sessions

Our Learning Support sessions are designed to help BCITO carpentry apprentices who may be struggling with their carpentry bookwork and assessments.

If you:

  • Work better in smaller groups, a slower pace, and like to ask questions, or
  • Are not comfortable learning through traditional written resources, or
  • Find it daunting learning on your own and would like to learn with other apprentices, or
  • Have some form of learning difficulty, or
  • Have English as your second language,

. . . these sessions may be a great option for you

It is a 10 week course, held online after hours, using Zoom. We cover Working DrawingsWater Tightness  and Timber as core topics

and touch on key building code and legislation aspects. The class also gets to choose additional topics.

Our classes are effective because we limit the class size, work at a slower pace and give ample time to allow people to ask questions and work together to find solutions. We make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable to optimise learning.

In the Learning Support course, our aim is to cover key carpentry topics with the most jargon and difficult language as well as the mathematics sections.

In the Filipino Support classes, our aim is to cover key carpentry topics and New Zealand (Kiwi) building terminology etc.

All classes are online using Zoom so you can work from the comfort of your own home after a busy day at work.

You will need wifi, a mobile and/or computer/laptop with a working camera and sound, to join in the classes.

BCITO provides these classes for FREE to their apprentices.
