Terms and Conditions
*
I have read the Terms and Conditions.
1. Attendance & Commitment
Classes run for 1.5 hours, one evening per week via Zoom.
You are expected to attend every class as part of your learning journey.
Join the Zoom session 5 minutes early so you are settled and ready.
If you are unable to attend, you must send a text to your tutor before class.
Three unexplained absences will result in immediate withdrawal and loss of your class placement.
You may be able to make up missed classes on another day, depending on weekly topics.
2. Professional Behaviour & Respect
Treat classmates, tutors, and BCITO staff with respect at all times.
Allow others to speak without interruption.
Use appropriate language and maintain professional conduct.
Attend classes from a quiet, distraction‑free environment whenever possible.
Avoid multitasking such as scrolling social media, gaming, or talking to others during class.
3. Participation & Engagement
Keep your camera on where possible to support engagement.
Mute your microphone unless you are speaking.
Actively participate by:Asking questions
Using the chat or raise‑hand tool
Sharing your on‑site experiences when appropriate
Take clear notes, as your Training Advisor may review them during assessment visits.
These sessions support your understanding of carpentry theory and help strengthen your on‑site learning.
4. Technology & Communication Requirements
Ensure your device is charged, stable, and connected to reliable internet.
Use the correct Zoom link, Meeting ID, and Passcode for each class.
If you experience issues (audio, slides not displaying, connection dropping), notify your tutor immediately.
By participating, you agree to receive text and email reminders about upcoming Zoom classes and links.
You may opt out of these communications at any time by replying to any message.
5. Learning Expectations & Assessments
LFT classes support your progress toward the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry.
These sessions help prepare you for your three‑monthly BCITO site visit assessments, where your Training Advisor may:Review your notes
Walk the site with you
Discuss your work with your employer
Ask questions to confirm your understanding
It is your responsibility to demonstrate what you know and what you can do.
Attending night classes does not guarantee passing, but they significantly support your success.
